Drummer in training!

Me and the Boy

So I had band practice last night and Zae got to come with me because mom had a meeting.  He thought this was great as long as we stopped and got a cheeseburger happymeal with no crunchy stuff (pickles and onions).  Well as the practice got going he was coloring and as we started playing a fast song he started drumming along.  And he was on tempo!  I was very proud!

As for the rest of practice we slaughtered a few more songs before giving up and going home (Ah well if we practiced more than once a month).

IG:  I got these pics and descriptions off www.musiciansfriend.com.  They have them priced at just shy of $700 and $850.  The stock pickups on the RGT42FXQM are good.  The Bridge pickup delivers massive crunch, but I found the Neck pickup to be Bassy and somewhat muddy tonewise for my taste.  The RGT6EXFX Model comes with an EMG 81-85 Set (my personal preferance).   Check out http://www.ibanez.com/eg/series.aspx?s=rg_fixed from the Ibanez website for all the different models.  The Wizard II neck is very thin and the fretboard radius is 16″ and can take some getting use to if you normally play a Fender or Gibson, but the large cutouts allow exceptional access to the upper frets (and having 24 frets is cool too!).

As for a knitted guitar cover – I think it would get snagged on the guitar.  Sorry dear:-(

If none of this makes sense please see the comments from yesterdays post.

My Guitar

my-guitar.jpg

Guitar and yarn.  That is pretty much what goes on around our house.   As for the guitar it is an Ibanez RG series.  I’ve had it for a couple of years now.  I put in EMG’s 81-85 set about 2 years ago with a 3 position toggle switch.  It took a little home modification, but I’m happy with it.  Also have a Tremelo-No installed in the back to help stablize the tuning.  I have found that when the temperature gets to extremes (i.e really cold or really hot) the floating bridge plays havoc on staying in tune.  I don’t know about you, but I would rather play than tune after every song.  As for the yarn in the picture – my wife got a very good deal on it – what more could I ask for :-) .  That’s about it for now.  Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Later!  D-
